Rumors on Amatokin: a skin stem cell wrinkle cream?

Is Amatokin the first product to harness the potential of your own stem cells to reduce serious wrinkles? From rumorsBusinesswire: This “super-secret” wrinkle cream, called Amatokin, is not really a cream at all, but a “highly efficient ‘barrier-neutral’ emulsion” containing a unique polypeptide compound (known in official circles as polypeptide #153). This meta-peptide was developed 62 miles north of St. Petersburg, Russia in a high-security lab . The original goal was to find a better way to help burn victims heal, but the real money is in harnessing the power of stem cells to renew old skin and make it young. … Amatokin is the most controversial anti-aging skin cream in more than three decades. …While the public debate rages about the use of stem cells from fertilized human eggs, most people dont realize that human skin is the largest repository of stem cells in the body. …If Voss Laboratories succeeds in bringing Amatokin to the American market for a price of under $200 for a 30-day supply, industry sources say Amatokin could be the most sought-after formula to ever hit the anti-wrinkle, anti-aging market. Bottom line: The ability of Amatokin and stem-cell science to deliver wrinkle-free skin remains mostly rumor but a very persistent one. Link

Ok, it is one thing to use a polypeptide or a mix of them to make the endogenous, natural born skin stem cells move and divide and regenerate, but to put exogenous stem cells into a cream as a compound: that is a completely different project. For the latter you need to glue the cells somewhere with something (gelatin, colloid emulsion?).

  1. Plazan did it long before amatokin .

Research-and-production enterprise “Plazan” has worked in the market of cosmetics and medicines since 1991 and is a group of highly skilled experts. They are doctors and candidates of medical, pharmacological, and biological sciences. Many of These specialists have been working for numerous years in structures at the academy of sciences for the Russian Federation. From as far back as 1986 some employees of the company had been engaged in the development and study of placental cell preparations.

In 1989 at The Russian Academy of sciences “Plazan” won a grant for innovative activity for research of biologically active placental cell extracts, and in 1991 the placental cell preparations developed by the company where entered into clinical tests by the health authorities. Beginning at the source, every donors’ tissue (placenta) goes through a virological, microbiological and histological control. Once in the laboratory, the active ingredients are extracted and the material undergoes a second viral and microbiological test.

A further independent analysis is carried out on samples at the Ministry of Health, and finally, product samples are tested at the State Sanitary Control agency before being issued a Quality Conformity certificate. 2. I would like to know if this product is available in the USA.
I am 68 y/y and I would like to die with a smooth skin.
    Thank you

  3. My daughter has a scar on her face because a dog bit her. Will this cream help her to erase the scar?

  4. Looks like you’re the #2 result on Google. As you can probably tell from the comments so far, there are some desperate people out there. We should remember that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Not only that, but it only takes a single unscrupulous company to paint a whole industry with a bad reputation. I am very worried that these people(like has happened so many times before with supposed anti-aging products) will prey upon the desperate and tarnish the reputation of the industry as a whole.

The only defense against this is openness, which they certainly haven’t been forthcoming with.

  5. I mean come on, look at this: “This meta-peptide was developed 62 miles north of St. Petersburg, Russia in a high-security lab.”

    “Rumor also has it…”
“If Voss Laboratories succeeds in bringing Amatokin to the American market for a price of under $200 for a 30-day supply…”
“Bottom line: The ability of Amatokin and stem-cell science to deliver wrinkle-free skin remains mostly rumor – but a very persistent one.”

Do you realize that BusinessWire articles are all put out there by businesses paying to be there? They are not articles. They are corporate communication – advertising. The company crafted this entire ‘article’ and paid a few hundred bucks to put it on Business Wire.

We have no reason to assume this is real.

  7. Amatokin is producte by Voss Labs, also know as Basic Research. I purchased the product direct from the company to give it a whirl since I’m a manufacturer. I wanted to see what was in it. The active ingredient from what I understand is really a combination of Growth Factors. (The Polypeptide 153 is just the name they made up for it). This means it tells your skin cells to divide more quickly. Similar product are on the market already such as TSN Recovery and the HydroPeptide Serum (I’ve actually heard this product has the same growth factors as the Amatokin.)

  8. I’ve read the packaging. It is available at Macy’s.
If (and this is a whopping “IF”) this product actually did what it claims (“highlighting expression of stem cell markers in the skin”), then all boxes should be pulled off the shelves in stores and put into toxicology labs for carcinogenesis studies. Why? Because many “stem cell markers” also found to be good “cancer markers”. Indeed, one current hypothesis postulates that many cancers actually come from either defective stem cells, or normal cells that acquire some stem cell-like characteristics.

That’s right. If this product really did what it claims, then it may give you cancer.

Thankfully, your epidermal barrier is pretty good at keeping out proteins; it’s water-tight, after all, and your epidermal stem cells are buried deep in your skin. This is also good, because it basically keeps those vulnerable stem cells as far away from environmentally-induced damage as much as possible. This is why you don’t automatically break out into skin cancer after a single day at the beach.

All in all, this is yet another product with a huge claim for a huge price that all comes down to nothing.

The rest of the lotion, on the other hand, looks like more or less the same ingredients as all the other lotions on the market, so at least you’d get a pricey emollient.

Ah–I also am a basic science researcher. My project looks at epidermal stem cells and signaling pathways to cancer.

  9. I am having a difficult time believing that this latest wrinkle eraser will really work. I have tried just about everything in a tube or vial that was proported to remove at least 10 years from the face and wasted my money. It would have a more authentic feel if someone widely known as a respected authority on stem cells used in cosmetics would come out and verify these claims in a very public way.

  10. Amatokin Skin Cream harnesses the power of stem cells is what they say. Sounds pretty good if it works. I’ve read some reviews and people say the bottle lasts a long time anyways. Maybe I’ll have to get some. Sounds like stem cells in the skin may actually be the fountain of youth, hope so.

  11. I LOVE this cream! I saw results in just 30days! I am very pleased. There was a representative at the store in Hartford over Christmas and she sold me on it! I did not plan on spending that money but I am so happy I did. She gave me loads of samples too! I have finally run out. I think I will take a break and treat myself for my birthday!

  12. This product is NOT worth it’s price. It works no better than other brands sold in places like Wal-Mart. If you’re looking for a good product try ROC……it does work quite well tho it might irritate very sensitive skin. I’d try that first or the Olay line before spending over $200.00 looking for the fountain of youth……you won’t find it in a face cream – I know that for a fact.

  13. Who’s the manufactor for Polipeptideo 153?

  16. I want to know where I can buy a Polipeptideo 153?

  17. I have been using amatokin for about 8 weeks and was noticing a big dif in my skin. I was wondering if I was really seeing this great result or was it my amagination. So I starting putting it on the back on one hand and not the other hand. With in 2 weeks there was a huge dif between my hands, so much so that anyone that looked at my hands could tell right away which hand I had treated, and which one I hadn’t …..
Some of you can say all the negative things you want to, but the proof is in the pudding, and this cream works. I’m starting to think the people who write negative things, are with “another” company pushing a dif product and are just jealous. I order mine online at their site, and my 1 oz actually last me almost 1 1/2 months, and I put it several places not just my face. As far as I am concerned, this cream is worth every penny.

  18. if u guys are looking for good wrinkle removing product then try out any of the resveratrol product. its a biggest breakthrough since anti biotics. it doesnt only make ur skin smooth or wrinkle free. it also slows down ur aging process. 19. I always try to stay away from the brand new wrinkle cream and skin care products. It seems that we often think they are great for a couple years, then realize we were in fact wrong. I believe that if you just stick to the more natural products you remain safe, and will also get the best results.

    Natural Skin Wrinkle Repair Cream

  20. Purchased the cream at macy’s new york 6 eeks ago, it definitel works for me, got a lot of positive comments. don’t know long term but for the moment its great

  21. Finnish Skincare brand LUMENE also has a few of the Apple Stem Cell products on the market under the name Excellent Future. Only $29.99 at CVS pharmacies

  22. I haven’t used this cream but the product is actually selling like hot cakes all over the internet. I guess what women in general really look for whenever buying new makeup or any anti-aging creams is hope. To many people, hope may be well worth the price and that is exactly what marketers are aiming for.

  24. Helps burn victims AND reduces wrinkling – that’s the glory of modern medicine. Stem cell research will break open a host of medical advances, IMO.

  25. Interesting read (and discussion).
Well, if nothing else, it should at least result in a new angle for cosmetic companies to market a product.

  26. For anyone who wishes to purchase Amatokin – skin serum ($150.00) skin cream- ($135.00)
EYE CREAM (95.00)…All three purchased together, at once…($355.00)plus shipping.🙂..
I have a limited amount …..I love this product!!!

  27. The information provided about this specific cream looks very impressing. If that really is the truth then probably many would be able to say good-buy for so popular Botox injections.

  28. This post is a few years old and it hasn’t happened yet. When stem cells could be used for more important medical issues, it seems like to waste to use them for anti-wrinkle cream. There are several polypeptide based creams already available.

  29. Hope you could post photo of those using this product just want to see how it works. Is the effectiveness of this product already proven? Is this available in Asian countries?

  30. Until the US government relaxes it’s laws against stem cells, I think a stem cell wrinkle cream is not likely to be available here for a while unless it can be snuck in from other countries. In the meanwhile, Retinal A is probably the best wrinkle fighter now available. – Ellyn Deuink

  31. Rumors are galloping around the miracle anti-wrinkle cream “Amatokin”, believed to be developed by a high-security lab in Russia. The product was developed to heal burn victims fast, has also been found to eliminate deeper wrinkles making the skin flawless, with long lasting results. The cream is developed using stem cell technology.

  32. any user of this product who can share your experience? I am interested about this product for my mom want to give her something special on her birthday…Thanks in advance🙂
